STAIRCASE REMODELS
Uptown Dallas, TX Modern Entry Renovation
Homeowner Desired Outcome
When homeowners consider renovations for their home, updating an outdated staircase is often overlooked on their list of priorities. However, replacing stairs and railings, especially if they are unsafe or dysfunctional, is actually much easier than you might expect. Finding the right contractor will ensure the job gets done quickly and professionally every time.
For these Uptown homeowners, their staircase was not built to code. At the top of the stairway where the stairs turned, the steps were also too steep. The homeowners wanted to make the stairs safer, remove the old carpet, and modify the stair handrail so the living area was more visible from the front hall.
Our Creative Solution
Blackline Renovations tore town the existing half-wall that was the existing railing and removed all of the carpeting. We reframed the staircase with squared off treads and brought the stairs up to current building code requirements. New white oak treads and risers were installed, and a new custom handrail was designed with 2×2 white oak posts using the standard spacing for a handrail. The new partition handrail, treads, and risers were all stained to match the existing hand-scraped hardwood flooring.
The result is a beautiful custom focal point for their modern town home.
