Stylish Two-Tone Kitchen Remodel in Dallas

Homeowner Desired Outcome

Completed as part of a primary suite and laundry room addition, the homeowner of this Dallas home in Conservation District 9 wanted to maximize the usable space in her kitchen. She also envisioned enlarging the built-in bar, adding a pantry, and making the layout more conducive for entertaining.

OUR CREATIVE SOLUTION

The original kitchen featured a large island that restricted walking space in the kitchen, and negatively impacted traffic flow. A stacked washer/dryer and small breakfast nook also impeded the kitchen’s size and functionality.

Blackline’s design solution included reconfiguring the kitchen layout to include a peninsula with seating. This allowed us to maintain the counter space that the island provided while creating a more open layout. Slightly shifting the kitchen sink and range eliminated a pinch point and improved the work flow. We also designed a large full-height pantry and built-in bar/coffee station into the space, providing the amenities our client asked for. To architecturally blend the rooms together and open up the space, we replicated the original arched opening between the living room and dining room and designed it into the kitchen and dining room opening.

The finishes were kept neutral but vibrant. The timeless two-tone cabinets turned a simple space into a stunning kitchen renovation with a light mocha paint color on the upper cabinets that contrasted with a darker cabinet stain on the bottom. Complimenting the cabinets is a striking 3-dimensional tile backsplash, accented by a brushed brass faucet and pot-filler. The custom cabinet doors, featuring the home’s original leaded glass inserts, make the updated kitchen feel like it was originally part of the home.
