Greenland Hills Traditional Kitchen Remodel on the M-Streets
Homeowner Desired Outcome
This charming Tudor home in Greenland Hills featured an outdated kitchen that was dark and dreary with furr downs (the enclosed area between the top of the kitchen cabinet and the ceiling), a slate tile floor, dark red walls, a poor layout, and closets that protruded into the space. The homeowner contacted us to design and remodel the kitchen hoping to create a lighter and brighter space, improve the room flow, add functional storage space, and upgrade the fixtures and finishes.
OUR CREATIVE SOLUTION
Blackline Renovations designed a layout for the space that involved removing the corner pantry/laundry closet and centering the exterior door on the back wall. Removing the closet required relocating the stacked washer and dryer to an adjacent wall, installing a new tankless water heater in the attic, and demolishing the old service chimney. This was well worth the effort and created the needed balance for the new kitchen layout. We removed the existing furr downs and extended the cabinetry to the ceiling, resulting in a kitchen that felt more inviting and spacious.
This fully custom classic style kitchen design included beaded-inset cabinets with traditional features such as fluted corner columns, decorative corbels, furniture-style toe-kick details, and decorative glass upper cabinets. The cabinets were complimented with new stainless-steel appliances, granite countertops and a marble tile backsplash. The old slate tile flooring was removed and replaced with the continuing look of the oak hardwood floor that already existed in the rest of the home. This created a seamless flow from the front door to the back of the home—seamless and stunning.
The result was a stunning upgraded classic kitchen with modern conveniences the homeowner was looking for.
