University Park Traditional White Kitchen
Homeowner Desired Outcome
For these University Park homeowners, the kitchen that came with their Dallas home fell short on both frills and function. In the breakfast nook, the previous owner had installed an older model elevator, which closed off a significant portion of the room and greatly reduced the natural light being let in. Moreover, the homeowners wanted to modernize the space and make it more functional for their growing family.
OUR CREATIVE SOLUTION
To accommodate the client’s requests, our design solution included removing the existing elevator between the kitchen and dining room to open up the space and allow in more natural light. We further repaired the window trim, which was seamlessly matched to the home’s existing trim, and showcased the beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows. The new open layout gave us the space we needed to improve the flow in the kitchen. It also allowed us to install a custom mudroom cabinet near the garage, which was designed with much needed storage for the growing family.
Pull and replace modifications to this kitchen layout included removal of the Tuscan-style vent hood enclosure which was replaced with a streamlined stainless-steel vent hood. New honed marble countertops were installed throughout the kitchen with a simpler edge detail, giving the space a more modern feel. Other amenities included a new white subway tile backsplash, glass bubble pendant lighting, and recessed LED lights. The existing cabinets were painted a crisp, modern white, providing just the right touch of “contemporary elegance” that the homeowners wanted.
